AI-Powered Itinerary Generation for Yacht Charters
How we built a RAG-based system that generates personalized sailing itineraries in 10 seconds.
Planning a yacht charter itinerary in the Greek islands is surprisingly complex: weather, port availability, distances, cruising speed, client preferences and charter duration. Our AI does all of this in about 10 seconds.
Why Not Just Use ChatGPT?
Generic LLMs don't know that Mykonos marina is full every weekend in July, that the Meltemi makes certain routes dangerous in August, or that port fees at Hydra are twice those at Poros. We needed domain knowledge.
The RAG Approach
We built a knowledge base of Greek ports, anchorages and marinas, each with coordinates, facilities, fees, weather exposure and seasonal notes, embedded in a vector database. The system retrieves relevant destinations, then the LLM writes a day-by-day plan with reasoning for each stop.
Results
Brokers who used to spend 1–2 hours crafting itineraries now generate 3–4 options in under a minute, and can respond to inquiries immediately.
